Nah, remember this is a game so go nuts!. That last category will be the tiniest fraction of a fraction of people but… well its still there. It could just be a way to blow off steam, to work through bad situations they themselves had to deal with or it could be a step towards doing it for real. So if someone gets a certain amount of joy out of purely torturing NPC’s (or other players in MMO’s) it does say something about these people.Įxactly what it means I can’t tell you. In therapy they often use stories where the clients participate to help them deal with certain emotions and situations. Games have the added component of participation. Like the grief when you lose someone, so you can better work through the emotion. This helps the brain prepare itself for certain situations. Your brain’s emotional centers are activated and in use if you listen to an engaging story.

There would be no use in listening to a tragedy and being sad because of it otherwise. Humans have used stories in many forms for millennia as tools to train emotions. Most of the rest of the game is great. That doesn’t mean what people think it means. Hogwarts character progress just feels lackluster and kinda bleh Your character grows and you gotta earn it. You feel like your character grows and learns because each time you learn a word of power and slay a dragon you earn an upgrade to something you already have or gain something new. I wouldn't want it to be a grind to learn them, but something not just wrapped in a gift bag. The moment you learn a new spell outside of alohomora you are an instant master and can use it in any situation perfectly every time, there is no character growth. The game does not make it feel like your character is really learning and growing, every spell is just given to you because you did X thing with other spells that you were going to probably do anyway. The game sets a tone at the beginning, you are a student, you started late, learn fast because we don't care you started 4 years late, OWLs are coming
